Disclaimer. The below link is a calculator to help you work out your overhead variables. This calculator is for educational purposes and should be used as a guide only. Please speak with your accountant in understanding your overheads.

Overhead Calculator

Working out your predetermined overheads into your charge out rate can take a bit of work.  The link above is designed to help with this calculation. Once established these can be a variable according to Pay Rate. For staff that help out and have more general duties might not attract the full overhead rate. Apprentices might fall into this category as an example.

Calculating % Overhead based on a particular pay rate

Charge Out Rate = Pay rate + overheads.
This is a user config variable that can be altered under Admin/Config/DEFAULT_CHARGEOUT_RATE

(Charge out rate – Pay rate)/Pay Rate = % Overhead
Example using Trade 4: 150% = ($32×1.5) = $48 (see image @ top)
Charge Out Rate: $32+$48 = $80
Calculation:
($80-$32) = $48
$48/$32 = 1.5
1.5×100 = 150%

QUOTE_ITEM_OVERHEAD_PERCENTAGE
This particular config variable can be left at 0 if using the above calculation method or formula.
This variable can be used if you would like to add a % markup to a flat charge out rate while quoting.
